Wooden yarn bowl, perfect for controlling your yarn whilst knitting or crocheting. The bowl can accommodate a 50g ball of 2 ply jumper weight yarn or two 25g balls. The functional holes of the yarn bowl have been incorporated into a design inspired by the Atomic Age graphics of the 1950's, which allows the yarn to feed through the top or the side of the yarn holder. The enclosed shape prevents the yarn lifting out of the bowl and the heavy bottom provides stability. The holes can also be used to hold knitting needles/crochet hooks when not in use.
Hand turned from a highly figured piece of spalted beech. The shape created is extremely tactile and works to exhibit the exquisite natural patterning of the wood. Pyrography has been used to apply the minimal graphic decoration and copper infill has been used to accentuate small cracks.
Finished with Danish Oil and Carnauba Wax for protection and a sheen that emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood.
