Medium sized hollow form turned from an Oak burl. A WoodyNess Collection piece.
This extra special piece of wood, with it's stunning natural grain and inclusions, has earned it a place in the WoodyNess Collection.
The hollow form has been shaped with a high waistline to incorporate the 'Bite of the Burl' inclusion. The inclusion has been brought to life with the addition of chameleon pigment powders. The upper third features five concentric rings finishing with a recessed rim.
The piece is sealed with Danish Oil which provides a low-sheen finish, that enhances the natural beauty of the wood whilst protecting and nourishing it.
Woody's Words -"Oak is one of my favourite woods to work with and I enjoyed the challenge that this piece presented with its transition from the regular grain pattern on one half that morphs into the pippy, more chaotic burr type features on the other half. The burl is a representation of a time when the tree was undergoing some form of stress and the shape to me represents calm on one side transitioning into a period of stress on the other, a bowl of two halves."
