The birch has beautiful figuring and chatoyance. The shape of the bowl has been inspired by the Regency style. The outer is embellished with hand-carved vertical grooves creating areas of relief, which are crowned by a rim featuring tipped cross punch stamp detail. The design is completed with a spiral textured ring on the underside of the bowl.
The piece is sealed with Danish Oil which provides a low-sheen finish, that enhances the natural beauty of the wood whilst protecting and nourishing it.
The beautiful figuring of this wood and the hand-carved detailing meant that it had to be included in the WoodyNess Collection.
Woody's Words -"Birch is a lovely wood to carve and takes detail well. I also wanted to create something tactile. The smoothness of the bowl on the inside contrasting with the textured stamped detail and the 'raw' hand-carved grooves on the outside of the bowl."
